Creative nature writing workshop at Hidden Valley Nature Center
JEFFERSON — “Writing the Weather” is the focus of a creative nature writing workshop led by writer and Maine Master Naturalist Andrea Lani on Saturday, February 15, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Hidden Valley Nature Center, in Jefferson.
"Given February’s fickle weather, the group will be inspired by whatever Mother Nature delivers on the day of the program," said Midcoast Conservancy, in a news release.
Through a combination of word play, visualization, and making metaphors, attendees will generate poems that invoke, personify, and celebrate the weather in its many different guises.
The agenda will alternate between group exercises, individual writing, and walking the trails to rejuvenate and refresh.
Lani is the author of Uphill Both Ways: Hiking toward Happiness on the Colorado Trail. As a Maine Master Naturalist, she teaches nature writing and nature journaling workshops around Maine.
