UNITY — Formerly located within a cozy rural farmhouse, Troy House Yoga has a new building, location, and name. Now called Community Yoga, this yoga and bodywork studio is now centrally located at 195 Depot Street in Unity.

Studio owners Arlene and Kari Hulva intend to keep the community-minded programming at the center of the studio’s offerings. For a year-and-a-half Troy House Yoga participants benefited from the variety of yoga classes, workshops, and bodywork offerings. The different styles of yoga classes gave both beginners and long-time yoga practitioners a home for their practice. Massage and bodywork clients appreciated the healing benefits of bodywork.

“The good news: all of this will continue!” said Community Yoga, in a news release.

Studio owners Arlene and Kari are young parents who own and operate Timber Frame Farm on Albion road. If your travels have taken you through northern Waldo County you may have stopped at their farmstand. And if you’ve eaten an egg sandwich from 93 Main in Unity, you will have eaten their eggs.

Arlene, who teaches yoga and offers massage therapy at the studio, is also fluent in American Sign Language. She came to love the practice of yoga while working as a mental health professional in a residential treatment facility. The work was challenging and yoga helped keep her centered. Knowing the benefits of yoga, Arlene wants to share it with her neighbors.

If you’re interested in trying yoga for the first time, Community Yoga is a place to start. The beginner classes on Saturday mornings or restorative classes on Monday nights could be your niche, or you may enjoy the flow of a Wednesday night vinyasa, according to the release.

New-to-Community-Yoga students have the option of two weeks unlimited yoga for $20. Until the end of October, new and old students can take advantage of a 10-class card for $70.

“And, keep your eye on the schedule, as new classes and workshops pop up!”
