ST. GEORGE — Catherine Jo Hannemann died peacefully at home with her husband and two cats, after a long battle with cancer.

Cathy was born on May 26, 1956 in Northampton, Massachusetts. She was the third of five children and spent her entire childhood in Belchertown, Massachusetts. A high school varsity player of field hockey, basketball and softball she always remained competitive throughout her life. Particularly in her last fight.

She continued her education at Greenfield Community College receiving a degree in engineering, this while working as a toolmaker at both the Greenfield Tap Die and Bendix corporations. With a degree in
hand she became a time study engineer at the American Fiber Finishing and Tite Flex Hose corporations. Her last job she had while living in Massachusetts was as Supervisor of parking Services at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

After moving to Maine with her soon to be husband, Paul, in 1999 she helped expand the family summer rental business and built up a nice little window cleaning business on the side.

She enjoyed all Maine had to offer. Boating, fishing, camping, canoeing, hiking and even hunting (though it was of minerals, not animals — good for the animals), as she was a crack shot with a rifle. Her Hawk- Eye enabled her to find the largest known piece of Gem Kunsite ever found in the state of Maine.

Because of her interest in minerals she became a long time member of the Maine Mineralogical and Geological Society, working as show co-chair and secretary for several years along with many other club duties.

She had many other interests, as well. Golf was her second passion playing in the Rockland Golf Clubʼs Women's Golf Association.

She also enjoyed metal detecting, playing her guitar, supporting local conservation efforts, and was an avid Patriots Fan.

Ironically, Cathy had spent many years fund raising to fight cancer, volunteering for the Relay for Life in Massachusetts and the Mid Coast Cancer Fund golf tournament at the Rockland
Golf Club.

Besides her loving husband, Paul, of St. George, Maine, She leaves behind her father, Alfred H. Clark, her mother Clara M. Very, her brothers Jerry, Paul, and Jim and their respective wives Susan, Doree, and Annie and her sister, Martha, and her husband, Michael. She is also survived by eight nieces and nephews.

There will be get togethers in both Maine and Massachusetts to celebrate Cathy's life. The dates are to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Dean Snell Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 104, Brunswick, ME. 04011
