UNION — Vose Library, in Union, presents original artwork by Argy Nestor, on exhibit during March and April.

Creating art has been a part of Nestor’s fabric for as long as she can remember. In 2021, she and Jean Feldeisen united art and poetry, resulting in their book, Catching Fireflies, published in September 2023.

Vose Library’s patrons and friends are invited to “Catching Fireflies with Jean Feldeisen and Argy Nestor,” Wednesday, April  3, 2024, at 7 p.m., at Vose Library.

Nestory will share processes she used in her mixed media art and Feldeisen will read selected poems.

Books, prints, and cards of the images will be on sale that evening. This is an in-person event.

Nestor taught visual arts to middle schoolers for 32 years, much of that time in RSU 40, and worked with educators throughout Maine and beyond for another 13 years. She established an educational blog in 2007, now named “Argy’s Point of View” (www.meartsed.wordpress.com), featuring over 4,500 archived posts.

Nestor holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Maine at Orono and an undergraduate degree from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University). She was honored as the 1995 Maine Teacher of the Year, participated in the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program, and has received many awards for her dedication to education.
