CAMDEN — Camden’s development director, Brian Hodges, submitted his resignation earlier this week to Town Manager Patricia Finnigan, relaying that he is leaving the public sector for another job.

On Thursday, Aug. 21, the town issued a news release on his departure, in which Finnigan praised Hodges’ work, saying: “During his 3.5 years with the town, Brian has worked tirelessly with business people, citizens, and elected officials to strengthen Camden’s business climate. Brian’s ability to forge working relationships with citizens and businesses has resulted in a long list of accomplishments that will bring long-term benefits to the community.”

Hodges is not disclosing his new job, which is with a private company. His last day on the job in Camden is Aug. 29.

He has served as the town’s first-ever development director since the position was created in 2011, in order to stimulate business growth and community development.

Camden established the new position of development director to strengthen Camden’s profile as a great place to do business, and to work with existing businesses to help them thrive, the release said.

I’ve greatly enjoyed the opportunity to serve the citizens and businesses of Camden these past 3.5 years and considered it a privilege to be Camden’s Development Director,” Hodges said, in the release. “Thanks to the enthusiastic response from elected officials, colleagues, committee members, business owners, and citizens we have been able to accomplish many community goals. This is a testament to what a remarkable community Camden is.”

Finnigan said Thursday that it is too premature to know what the next steps might entail concerning Hodges’ position.

“The position is important and we want to continue it,” she said.
