    CAMDEN — Camden Public Library announces their events calendar for August 2021.

    Sunday, August 1, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Camden on Canvas: Plein-Air Event Weekend. The library, in collaboration with Colin Page, of Page Gallery, is hosting an event with twenty notable landscape artists from around New England. The artists will be painting outdoors throughout Camden on July 30, 31, and the morning of August 1, as part of a benefit for the library. Public wet-paint exhibit, followed by ticketed reception and auction on August 1 in the Camden Amphitheatre. Information booth and map to where painters may be painting will be located in Harbor Park. Thanks to Lead Sponsor Ken Gardiner, Edward Jones Investments. Support also provided by Allen Insurance and Financial, Lyman-Morse, RE/MAX Jaret & Cohn, and Viking, Inc. Details at librarycamden.org/CamdenOnCanvas.

    Sunday, August 1, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Huge Book Sale Under the Tent. 
    The used book event will run Thursday, July 29, through Sunday, August 1, and will be set up under a huge tent adjacent to the Blue Door Book Shed on Atlantic Ave. The book shed and event tent can be reached via the parking lot on the left just past the Camden Amphitheatre. Ten thousand books, DVDs, CDs, and audio books will be on sale for great prices to benefit the library.

    Monday, August 2, 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Walsh History Center Hour on Zoom. Do you have a question about the history of Camden, your ancestors that may have lived in the area, or the house you live in now?     Monday, August 2, 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM. Sound Bathing and Gong Event. Enjoy the relaxing and transformative sound of gongs and chimes in the gorgeous Camden Amphitheatre. Musical instrument creator and Sound Therapist Jim Doble will create waves of sound to help participants sonically cleanse, rejuvenate, rest, and recuperate.     Wednesday, August 4, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PMCamden Brain Injury Support Group. Brain injury survivors and their loved ones come together to discuss ways to work through challenging neurological conditions. Yoga Nidra in the Amphitheatre. Camden-based Health & Wellness Coach Hester Kohl Brooks will facilitate Yoga Nidra programs every Thursday in July and August from 8:00 – 9:00 am. Yoga Nidra is a relaxing form of guided meditation. Bring something comfortable to lie down on or sit upon. Free, donations accepted, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Camden Public Library. Quantam Electronic Lunch Concert. This electronic sound performance group is comprised of Jason Dean on vocals, drum machines, and keys; Michael Whitehead is on bass and pedals. They describe their sound as “an eclectic electronic music style blending dance music with film score and a jazz flair.” Their concert in the Camden Amphitheatre is free and open to the public. Bring a chair or blanket for comfortable seating.

Sonja Florman and Friends Concert in the Amphitheatre. The Camden Public Library is delighted to welcome back Sonja Florman, known in our area for her enchanting and exciting performances with the Blue Fuse Gypsy Swing band. The free show in the Camden Amphitheatre on August 26 will feature a performance with another one of her bands: Sonja Florman and Friends. This 5-piece group is comprised of Portland’s premier Jazz musicians playing the Top 40 of the 20th Century, groovy jazz, soul, Latin, and vintage pop.
