Camden Hills advances to semifinals with win over Wildcats

ROCKPORT – The Camden Hills boys tennis team took on Presque Isle in an eastern Class B quarterfinal matchup Wednesday with the Windjammers taking a 4-1 win.
The No. 2 Camden Hills (12-1) squad will next take on No. 6 John Bapst (7-7) who defeated No. 3 Waterville 5-0 Wednesday. That game will be played at Camden Hills Saturday, June 6 at 1 p.m.
The winner of the Camden and John Bapst match will play the winner of the Ellsworth and Mount Desert Island match for the Eastern Class B Regional championship with date and time to be determined.
Individual results with the Camden Hills players listed first are, in singles, Austin Pohlman lost to Chase Norton 6-2, 3-6, 3-6; Josiah Krul defeated Byron Winslow 6-3, 6-1; and Matt Morse defeated Denny Young 6-2, 6-1;
In doubles, Jared Garske and Colby Arau defeated Colin Daigle and Alex Brewer 6-0, 6-1; and Josiah Simko and Alex Forcillo defeated Tyler Ayotte and Isaac Madore 6-0, 6-0.
The match was won quickly by the Windjammers. Both the doubles teams make quick work of the Wildcat teams and Morse at No. 3 singles picked up a win for the match. Krul and Winslow had some very long rallies that kept them playing and the score much tighter than the final 6-3, 6-1 scores.
With the match in hand the No. 1 singles took the court and after Camden Hills Pohlman took a quick 6-2 first set, Norton turned up the heat and came back with 6-3 and 6-3 wins to take the match for the 4-1 final score.
