BELFAST — Camden Conference, in partnership with the Belfast Free Library, presents Erik Klausmeyer for his talk on why outsourcing to India is so prevalent, on Monday, Nov. 13, at 6:30 p.m., at the Belfast Free Library. This in-person event is open to all.

“In this fascinating talk, Erik Klausmeyer will share with us the genesis of outsourcing work from the West (US and Europe) to India,” said Camden Conference, in a news release. We will delve into the historical underpinnings of this global outsourcing revolution, dating back to the late 1990s. We’ll explore how economic dynamics, changing policies in both the West and India, technological breakthroughs, and the pursuit of cost-savings converged to shape India as a prominent outsourcing destination. We’ll also focus on the profound socio-economic and cultural impacts of this transformation on the people of India, as their lives and communities have become forever shaped by this global phenomenon.”

Klausmeyer grew up in Downeast Maine, and left to pursue a degree in Asian Studies at Temple University. Klausmeyer returned to Maine and graduated from New England School of Communications in 2007, settling in Belfast in 2008. His work in the global outsourcing industry started at Athenahealth, continued at Flatiron Health in New York, and he is now the COO of ABW Medical, working with teams in multiple locations across India. Through his work, he typically spends 8-10 weeks per year in India.

This event is presented in anticipation of the 37th Annual Camden Conference, “INDIA: Rising Ambitions, Challenges at Home” taking place live from the Camden Opera House from February 16-18, 2024.
