BELFAST — According to journalist Caitlin Moran, “A library in the middle of a community is a cross between an emergency exit, a life-raft and a festival.”

That description fits the Belfast Free Library as it kicks off its Annual Appeal.

This yearly fundraising effort helps keep the library’s resources and programs accessible for children, families, adults and seniors. The library depends upon support from individuals since City funds cannot support everything the library does to enrich and delight the community, according to the Library, in a news release.

Support the free, accessible services at the BFL by replying to the Appeal letter sent to your home or by sending/dropping off your donation to the Belfast Free Library, 106 High St., Belfast, Maine 04915.

Donations are also accepted via the website www.belfastlibrary.org.
