BELFAST — Despite uncertainty, as of now, whether fall sports will take place this season, the Belfast Area High School athletic department has tentatively scheduled tryouts for fall sports to begin after school Tuesday, Sept. 8.

“Even though the details of our fall seasons are undetermined due to the covid pandemic, full preparations are well underway,” BAHS athletic director Matt Battani said in an announcement posted to the school’s website. “The MPA will make its decision this Thursday, August 27th about what, if any, sports seasons can proceed this fall.”

All athletes are required to get a pre-participation sports physical every two years, and no athletes will be allowed to try out, practice or compete until they have been cleared by a doctor.

Walk-in sports physicals are available at Seaport in Belfast on Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays for middle and high school students for $47.
