Annual memorial service to honor Major General Henry Knox to be held July 27

    THOMASTON — The annual memorial service to honor the life of Revolutionary War Hero, Major General Henry Knox, will take place at the Thomaston Village Cemetery July 27 at 10:30 a.m.

    The service will start with Revolutionary War period color guard from The Maine Society of the SAR and The Colonial Craftsmen’s Club of Colonial Massachusetts and their Distaff Side.

    Mark Edward Rustin, Grand Master of the Masons of Maine, will be the guest this year to give a short presentation about Gen. Knox before the laying of wreaths ceremony.

    The service is closed with a moving rendition of taps.

    There will be signs starting on Elm St to guide attendees to the grave site.

    Following the memorial service at the cemetery, there will be a reception at the General Knox Museum (30 High St.) with a BBQ, birthday cake and more in celebration of Henry Knox’s Birthday!

    This annual event is jointly sponsored by the Thomaston Historical Society and the General Henry Knox Museum.
