Alfred Carlson, obituary
ROCKLAND — Alfred C. Carlson, 62, died peacefully May 1, 2015, at home.
Born in Rockland on Dec. 31, 1952, he was the son of Gustuv H. Sr. and Ethel L. Morse Carlson. Educated locally, Alfred was a 1972 graduate of Rockland District High School.
He has been employed with many local businesses over the years, and was proud to have earned his commercial driver’s licence in January of 2004. Most recently he has been employed with Northport Boat Yard.
Alfred enjoyed kayaking, and playing pool and cards with his friends. He was also an accomplished bowler, bowling for many years on 'The Carlson's Team,' a league team consisting of all of his brothers. Alfred's sister said, “He was a kind and gentle soul and will always be their baby brother.”
Predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Arline Springer and Florence VanHoek; and a brother, Richard Carlson; Alfred is survived by his brothers, Robert Carlson of Rockland, Gustuv H. Carlson Jr. of Warren, Roger Carlson and his wife, Sheila, and Donald Carlson and his wife, Catherine, all of Rockland; his sisters, Sonja Staples of Lincolnville, Hilma Meklin of Thomaston, Norma Davee and her husband, Bob, of Camden, Judith Carlson of Thomaston, and Karen Carlson Gerard and her husband, Jim, of Rockland; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, May 15 from 2 to 3 p.m. with a celebration of his life immediately following at 3 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. The Rev. David English will officiate. Private interment will be at a later date at Achorn Cemetery.
