Aldermere Farm open house hosted by UMaine Extension, Oct.17
The Knox-Lincoln Counties Extension Association will hold its annual meeting and open house on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m., at Aldermere Farm Preserve, 20 Russell Avenue, in Rockport.
Meet staff and board members from University of Maine Cooperative Extension and learn about the programs Extension provides for communities in Knox and Lincoln counties, including the Maine Families program for new parents, 4-H youth development, home horticulture, sustainable agriculture, and climate resilience.
Participants can tour Aldermere Farm's new Program Barn and Welcome Center, meet some of Aldermere's iconic Belted Galloway herd and learn how Maine Coast Heritage Trust utilizes agriculture as a key conservation strategy. Staff and board members will discuss Aldermere Farm and Erickson Fields educational offerings including Farm Hands, 4-H Club, Kids Can Grow, Teen Agricultural Crew, and Erickson Fields Community Gardens, as well as Extension’s partnership with the Knox County Gleaners, a program of Come Spring Food Pantry in Union. There will be a short business meeting and a question-and-answer session for the public.
