Albert Warren Hutchinson Jr., obituary
CUSHING — Albert Warren Hutchinson Jr., 60, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025 with his loving family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Rockland, October 11, 1964 to Albert W. Sr. and Sharon Colpritt Hutchinson. Albert grew up and attended schools in Rockland, New Castle, NH and Portsmouth, NH. He played youth baseball and basketball in Rockland, and played on a hockey team and swim dive team at Portsmouth High School. He was a 1983 graduate of Rockland District High School.
After graduating high school there were not a lot of jobs available. Albert took a job at North End Marine working with his Uncle Junior. That was the start of his boat building career. After a few years at North End Marine, Albert moved onto Lyman Morse Boatbuilding where he moved up to a foreman position.
Albert wanted to go out on his own, so after his wife graduated college, he started his own business, Hutchinson Composite. Albert had a great mind and great work ethic for business and wanted to build his own molds. He teamed up with his former coworker Tom Bernardi and designed the Mussel Ridge 42'. It didn't stop there, and he also added a 46', 48', and a 54'. Albert greatly enjoyed working with his customers and enjoyed having past customers come back years later to tell him how much they enjoyed their Mussel Ridge even more.
Albert married his wife, Tina, on October 18, 1987 at the Thomaston Baptist Church. Together they bought their first house in Thomaston, before they settled into their house of 22 years in Cushing.
Albert also volunteered on the Thomaston and Rockland Fire and Rescue.
On summer days when his son Christopher was younger, Albert enjoyed taking him out to haul lobsters. The sight of his son bringing up a trap with lobsters in it made him so happy. Albert joined Christopher on many tuna trips and even fished with him during fishing tournaments. He was always especially excited when they landed a tuna fish! Lots of good memories were made.
Albert loved spending time with his wife and children camping, hunting, fishing, and going on snowmobiling vacations. Albert got introduced to fishing in Oswego, New York, and fishing on the Great Lakes for king salmon. He spent many years fishing in Oswego with his daughter Nicole by his side. As time went on, his son- in-law Cameron, his bonus child Addie, and her husband Justin also joined. Albert felt very blessed to have one last trip to Oswego during his declining health, where he got to see his grandson Lucas catch his first king salmon.
In May 2018, Albert was diagnosed with glioblastoma. He was told at the time that even with surgery, radiation, and chemo, the expected time to live was 12 to 18 months. Albert fought his cancer with all he had to his last day. He outlived the odds by living with glioblastoma for 6 years and 9 months. The survival rate for living over five years with his horrible cancer is only 5%.
Albert is predeceased by his sisters Gwendolyn Colpritt and Annette Hutchinson; grandparents William and Ruth Lanham; and father figure, F. Andrew (Andy) Schulte.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Tina Hutchinson; son Christopher Hutchinson and his wife Valerie; daughter Nicole and her husband Cameron Prock; parents Albert Hutchinson Sr. (Tonia) and Sharon Vanorse (Bert); stepmother Eleanor Hutchinson; bonus parents Deborah (Hutchinson) Schulte; grandchildren Lucas Albert and Maynard James Prock, Orion Vitio Hutchinson, and RJ Colpritt; bonus children Addie Sylvester (Justin) and Logan Fogg; special nephew Joseph Carballo; siblings Arthur Hutchinson (Candy), Ruth Libbey (Bill), Julie Bryant, Martin Bickford, Douglas Bickford, Rebecca Reilly (Jeff), and Dianna Schulte; father- and mother-in-law Bruce and Donna Murgita; brother-in-law Brian Murgita (Debra).
The family would like to thank the close friends who stayed by our side during Albert’s battle with this disease: Troy and Rebecca Crane, Becky and Todd Peasley, Brian and Ann Marie Goulding, Gary Glidden, Francis Dennison, and Steve Law.
