On Thursday, July 24, the Belfast Co-op is sponsoring a trip to Sweetgrass Farm Winery & Distillery in Union to learn about production from this award-winning winemaker. Transportation will be provided by Waldo CAP from the Belfast Co-op, located at 123 High Street in downtown Belfast. Registrants will leave the Co-op at 12:15pm and return by 3:45pm.
This guided tour will provide a behind-the-scenes look at their production of fruit wines, ports, and spirits - including the only Maine-distilled whiskey since Prohibition. There will be free tastings, and an opportunity to purchase your favorites to bring home. Sweetgrass Farm is a family run business, owned by Keith and Constance Bodine, which supports local sustainable agriculture and donates 10% of their profits to organizations that support families, children, and rural life.
There is a $10 registration fee to help defray the cost of transportation. Reserve your seat at the front registers at the Co-op, or with a credit card by phoning (207) 338-2532. Seating is limited.
