The Knox County Democratic Committee (KCDC) will again celebrate the spirit of our community by marching in the Fourth of July parade in Thomaston, Maine.
The parade theme this year is “250 Years of Stars, Stripes & Summer Nights.” Knox County is more than a place on the map - it is home. In taking part in this tradition, and with each step we take, KCDC honors the nation’s founding ideals while also highlighting the importance of neighbors working together to make the community a better place for everyone.
KCDC invites fellow members, their families and friends, and all like-minded local residents to join us. We’ve also invited Democratic candidates for local, state, and national office and their supporters to join us.
Please note, this is not a protest march, but a celebration of the 250th Anniversary of our Democracy. We ask that KCDC participants bring their signs with positive messages in support of democracy - reminding everyone that we are a nation of people, not kings. Marchers are also encouraged to wear red, white, and blue and bring sound makers, kazoos - and, especially, their enthusiasm.
KCDC marchers should:
Line-up: Starting at 9:00 AM on Dwight Street – off Main Street. At check-in on Dwight St., marchers should ask to be directed to the Knox County Democrats.
Parade Start: 11:00 AM
Parade Route: Erin Street to Main Street to Booker Street, Thomaston.
For additional information, marchers should check out the KCDC Facebook page.
Our presence in the parade is a reminder that civic pride is not only about patriotism, but also about volunteering, supporting one another, and staying involved in local life. The strength of America begins right here in Knox County, with friends and neighbors who show up for one another.
