John Shattuck, former Maine Commissioner for the Hard of Hearing and Director of Maine Vocational Rehabilitation, will teach the college course, HUS 130 Developmental Disabilities, this spring term in a face-to-face format at the University of Maine at Augusta Rockland Center.

This 3-credit college course explores the physiological, educational, psychological, and familial characteristics of developmental disabilities for children and adults. Intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, and more will be presented within current and historical contexts regarding public attitudes, diagnostic criteria and services.

Mr. Shattuck brings great expertise, passion and real world experience to this course. It's an excellent learning opportunity for anyone working in education, social and human services, criminal justice and for parents of a child with disabilities.

The course will meet on Wednesdays from 9:00 - 11:45AM at the UMA Rockland Center at 91 Camden Street, Rockland starting January 22.
