Local Color welcomes guest artist Marguerite Lawler at Fourth Friday Art Walk
Painter Marguerite Lawler will give an artist talk during an opening reception for her work during Belfast’s Fourth Friday Art Walk, June 27. The reception is from 4 - 7 p.m. The Artist Talk is at 5:30 p.m.
Lawler presents a new series of landscape oil paintings that reflect her continued exploration of light, memory, and place. Working in oil on panel, Lawler uses shadows and shifting light to evoke a sense of time passing and the emotional tone of familiar spaces.
"Inspired by locations in Maine, her paintings blend observation with recollection, capturing more than just a view—they suggest how it felt to be there," said Local Color, in a news release.
Lawler holds a BFA from RISD and an MFA from CUNY. Her work has appeared in Maine Home + Design and is held in collections across the U.S.
The new paintings will be on view at Local Color Gallery from June 22-July 20.
Local Color is located at 135 High Street in Belfast, and is open from 11 to 5 Tuesday through Saturday and from 11 to 4 on Sunday. See www.localcolorgallerymaine.org.
