CHINA — A Palermo man was left in critical condition following a single-vehicle accident in China Saturday night, according to a media report from Maine State Police.

Dominic Conlogue, 20, was the driver of the vehicle, which struck trees and overturned after leaving Mann Road around 9 p.m.

Both Conlogue and the front seat passenger, 20-year-old Austin Berry, of Machias, were pinned in the vehicle, while a second passenger was able to go for help. Berry and Conlogue had to be freed from the vehicle by China firefighters, according to the release.

Conlogue was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Berry and the second passenger, 20-year-old Cole Donald, of Palermo, were treated and released.

Maine State Trooper Connor Willard said speed and alcohol are “expected to be factors in the crash,” according to the release.
