Troy Howard captures Busline League field hockey championship

ROCKLAND – The No. 1 Oceanside West field hockey team hosted No. 2 Troy Howard Thursday for the Busline League field hockey championship at Oceanside High School.
During the season the two teams played twice and not a single goal was scored. Thursday, Troy Howard broke that mold and went on to a hard fought 1-0 win over the Mariners.
After playing to a scoreless first half the Lions got a goal from Jillian Young at 13:39 and went on to make that hold up for the 1-0 victory.
Troy Howard dominated play most of the game keeping the ball on the Oceanside half of the field throughout the game.
The Troy Howard keeper had only two saves on two shots from Oceanside. Lauren Hoppe had nine saves on 21 shots from Troy Howard.
Troy Howard held the edge in penalty corners 12-0.
