Trove Artisan Boutique & Gallery will present "Shapes and Variations", an exhibition of work by studio potter Michael Tirrell, opening this July in the gallery space at Trove.

Tirrell creates vessels that celebrate variation, embracing the subtle differences that make each handmade piece unique.

"Trained in renowned pottery studios throughout New England and at the historic Leach Pottery in Cornwall, England, he brings a deep respect for craftsmanship and the natural character of clay to his work," said Trove, in a news release. "His distinctive glazes—often subtle and restrained—reveal remarkable depth, nuance, and understated elegance."

An artist reception will be held Saturday, July 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet Michael Tirrell, view the exhibition, and enjoy light refreshments.

The event is free and open to the public.

Trove is located in downtown Searsport and features contemporary handmade work by more than 70 Maine artisans.
