Midcoast Community Chorus to perform ‘Shared Light: Songs to Lift the Spirit’ in Camden

Event has passed

ROCKPORT — The Midcoast Community Chorus (MCC) offers a concert of music infused with community spirit Sunday, January 21, 2024, at 3 p.m., at the Camden Hills Regional High School’s Strom Auditorium.

The 90-minute choral program will feature more than 80 singers and accompanying musicians performing works by composers Eric Whitacre, Leonard Bernstein, Ola Gjeilo, Morten Lauridsen, Stephen Paulus, Ennio Morricone, Joseph Martin, and more.

“As we navigate these dark and cold months, we reach for spirit in our work, our relationships, and our communities,” said artistic director Jeffrey Maynard, in a news release. “This concert’s selections uplift, inspire, and foster togetherness.”

Because “community” is at the heart of the chorus’ work, in the spirit of giving, the Midcoast Community Chorus will donate $5000 of proceeds to a local nonprofit supporting cancer survivors, with the beneficiary to be announced at the concert.

Tickets are available online through Eventbrite and are also for sale at the Grasshopper Shop in Rockland. More info can be found at www.mccsings.org.

Midcoast Community Chorus is the largest non-auditioned choral group in Central Maine, and welcomes new chorus members at all levels of experience to join its ranks when it begins a new season of rehearsals in February 2024.
