Lincolnville honors former Selectman David Barrows with a special 2021 Town Report in memoriam

LINCOLNVILLE — Late in the day, June 2, the five Lincolnville Select Board members, along with Town Administrator David Kinney, paid a surprise visit to the home of Darlene Barrows, bringing a special town tradition to her home.
The Select Board is honoring a former colleague and friend, David Barrows, who died in 2020, in this year’s town report.
From the In Memoriam of the Town Report:
Selectman David Norman Barrows passed away on September 13, 2020. David was born in Camden yet quickly made his way to Lincolnville, specifically Moody Mountain. He spent his childhood roaming the Moody Mountain woods and in later life working the land there that he loved so much.
David was well known to our regional community and visitors as “Dave” at Rankin’s Hardware, where he worked for over 40 years. He certainly knew how to spin a yarn, was known for his quick wit, and a knack for mischief. That said, David quietly did whatever needed to be done for a friend or someone he just met, often without being asked, and without complaint.
He was deeply committed to conservation and to the community. Through the years David has given countless hours and been involved in countless ways including Selectman and a past member of the Budget Committee, the Conservation Commission, and the Mid-Coast Solid Waste Corporation Board of Directors.
We are eternally grateful for David’s dedication to the community. Please consider honoring David’s contributions to our town by doing what he did: Get involved to make your community better.
David is survived by his wife, Darlene; sons Jonathan, Gary, and Bert; daughter, Heather; grandsons Wesley, Damian, Matthew, and Elias; and his sister, Judy.
