Kenya Hall performs at Underground Lounge, March 14
BELFAST — Kenya Hall infuses the Underground Lounge with soul on March 14.
“Merging old-school funk and soul with elements of hip-hop, Hall creates existential meaning out of irresistible grooves powered by clear, deep, and chill-inducing vocals,” said the Underground, in a news release. “A favorite in the Portland scene, she’s been inspiring listeners for well over a decade, garnering critical plaudits and sharing stages with the likes of The Roots, Shemekia Copeland, Dr. John, and Fred Wesley.”
Hall performs with her cohorts Kyle Friday on keys and Dan Boyden on drums at the Underground Lounge, in the basement of the Belfast Maskers Theatre, at 17 Court Street. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the show starts at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $10, cash only at the door.
The Underground Lounge offers shows on Thursday evenings twice a month along with beverages and homemade treats. Those interested in receiving email notices about upcoming shows can email sashakutsy2018@gmail.com.
