ROCKLAND — Folk singer-songwriters Maia Sharp and Antje Duvekot will appear on the Strand Theatre stage on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 7:30 p.m.

Nashville-based Maia Sharp’s 25-year career has included writing songs for the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Trisha Yearwood, Cher, and Art Garfunkel. Through it all, Sharp has continued to record her own albums including nine solo releases, one collaborative project with Art Garfunkel and Buddy Mondlock, and her duo project Roscoe & Etta (with writing/production partner Anna Schulze). Each release has been embraced by press and radio and has led to extensive touring and appearances on Mountain Stage, Acoustic Cafe, World Cafe, NPR’s “All Things Considered,” CBS Early Morning, and the Today Show, according to the Strand, in a news release.

At her live performances, Sharp incorporates some of the songs listeners may have heard from the artists mentioned above, and tells the stories behind those songs. Her latest album, Reckless Thoughts, was released in August, 2023.

German-American Antje Duvenot is a crafter of intricate, closely observed songs. Duvekot has solidified her reputation as one of Boston's top singer songwriters with "Big Dream Boulevard," her debut studio release and her follow-up albums The Near Demise of the Highwire Dancer and New Siberia. She has toured extensively in the US and Europe.

A compelling live performer, Duvekot has appeared at The Newport Folk Festival, Mountain Stage, and the Philadelphia and Kerrville Festivals. Internationally, Duvekot has headlined the The Celtic Connections Festival in Scotland and the Tonder Festival in Denmark. She’s the winner of some of the top songwriting awards, including the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, the prestigious Kerrville (TX) “Best New Folk Award” and, in one of the nation’s top music markets, the Boston Music Award for “Outstanding Folk Act.”
