Beverly Russell, obituary

STOCKTON SPRINGS — Beverly Russell, 79 of Stockton Springs, died peacefully surrounded by her family on December 30, 2017. She was born on March 27, 1938 in Stoneham, Massachusetts. She was raised by her grandmother, Florence Hannaford, along with her cousin, Joanie, who she has always considered her sister.

Beverly is survived by her husband of 58 years, George M. Russell, and her four children: Gilman Russell and girlfriend Jill Cunningham of Searsport, Steven Russell and wife Melody of San Antonio, Texas, Laurie Gray and husband Bruce, George Russell and wife Rochelle all of Searsport; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In 1971 Beverly and George moved to Maine. You could always find Beverly sitting with her sister-in-law, Margie Russell, over a cup of tea and knitting or crocheting a project. Beverly was blessed to have special friends in her life: Harriet Seekins, Roberta Wren, Janice Shute and Mary Jane Costigan. Beverly has had a life-long talent of knitting, crocheting and sewing. One of her proudest moments was when she raised $800 selling an afghan she made for the Stockton Springs Community Church Steeple Fund.
