Megunticook Rowing hosts Annual Dirigo Sprints, May 24

CAMDEN — Megunticook Rowing will host the Dirigo Sprints on Saturday, May 24, on Megunticook Lake. Racing starts at 8:30 a.m. Last race is at 12:15 p.m.

This event began several years ago to bring as many rowing teams together to battle it out on the water for the title and trophy. Defending champions Maine Coast Rowing Association of Brunswick will be defending their title. Waynflete of Portland and Neponset Rowing Club…

LINCOLNVILLE — Glenmoor By The Sea's annual For Fun Sake Pickleball Invitational is set to take place at Glenmoor by the Sea’s pickleball courts.  

This year’s For Fun Fake Annual Pickleball Invitational will take place Monday, June 9, at 12 p.m., at Glenmoor By The Sea, located at 2143 Atlantic Highway, Lincolnville.

Paddling the Passy: Inaugural Spring kayak passage of Belfast Marine Institute

Several Belfast students and BMI staff recently took part in the inaugural voyage of the Belfast Marine Institute’s fleet of kayaks. The BMI announced it would be hosting a weekly Monday evening kayak around the harbor, up the Passy or out into the bay as part of their Floating Classroom initiative to get students out, on, in and under the waters of Penobscot Bay.

There was a lot of interest from students wanting to participate.

Rockland hosts annual Bike to Work and School Day, May 16

ROCKLAND — On Friday, May 16, the City of Rockland will host its annual Bike to Work and School Day. The event will take place at Chapman Park, on the corner of Park and Main Streets, from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Community members are invited to pedal over for free coffee, breakfast snacks, and a morning of fun on bikes.

ROCKPORT — Coastal Mountains Land Trust presents Birds of Beech Hill on Saturday, May 10, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., at Beech Hill Preserve, in Rockport. This free hike is open to anyone interested in birds. The program will be presented by Brian Willson, avid birder and wildlife photographer.

"Midcoast Maine is a summer home and major migration hub for so many amazing species of birds," said CMLT, in a news release.
