Maine State Police Troop D beat
AUGUSTA — Maine State Police Troop D reported the following activity, Feb. 16-24. Below are some of the highlights, as reported by the agency. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.
Feb. 16
Trooper James Macdonald stopped a vehicle on Route 137 in Albion because the operator wasn't wearing his seat belt. Following a consent search of the vehicle, Kenneth McCue, 21, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and cited for not wearing his seat belt.
Trooper Corey Smith arrested Lisa Levanti, 49, of Monroe, on a Penobscot County warrant for failure to appear. She was transported to Waldo County Jail in Belfast.
Feb. 17
Trooper James Leonard responded to a domestic assault complaint in Searsmont. The complainant had been taken to Maine General after her boyfriend, John Hewlett, 48, struck her in the face two times. Hewlett was arrested for domestic assault and taken to the Waldo County Jail.
Trooper Mark Ferreira was called to Chelsea Market & Deli on Togus Road for a reported burglary. Several alcoholic beverages were taken along with numerous amounts of cigarette packs, cigar wrappers and lottery tickets. Also taken was a cell phone that had been found in the parking lot the day before. The mother of one of the suspects called and reported that he had taken off in the middle of the night, stealing her $80,000 Audi A8. Following investigation, Trooper Christopher Rogers arrested Nicole Breton, 19, the driver of the vehicle at the time, for unauthorized use of property and for operating under the influence. Trooper Ferreira then arrested Damian Sullivan, 24, for burglary, unauthorized use of property, receiving stolen property and possession of a usable amount of marijuana.
Feb. 18
Trooper Evan Teel stopped Camille Pierel, 59, of Liberty, for operating without taillights. Pierel was ultimately summonsed for operating an unregistered motor vehicle/
Feb. 19
Trooper Teel arrested William Chadwick, 26, of Liberty on a criminal warrant for failure to appear.
Trooper Kyle Pelletier, with the assistance of the Gardiner Police Department, located Justin Dufresne, 21, who was a suspect in a domestic incident that took place in West Gardiner on Feb. 16. Dufresne was interviewed, summonsed for domestic violence assault and released with bail conditions.
Feb. 21
Trooper Pelletier investigated a theft complaint in Pittston. The complainant reported that he witnessed a male subject walk by his mailbox and remove a package that was inside. A male juvenile was located a short distance down the road from the residence, interviewed roadside and confessed. The package was returned to the owner.
Trooper Pelletier investigated a domestic incident that took place in Randolph. The complainant reported that Maurice Hyson, 35, assaulted her. At the time of the assault Hyson was facing a pending domestic violence assault charge out of York County involving the same victim. An arrest warrant for Hyson has been issued for charges of domestic violence assault and violating conditional release.
Trooper Elisha Fowlie responded to a verbal argument on Windsor Street in Randolph. The investigation is being reviewed by the Kennebec District Attorney's office.
Trooper Fowlie responded to Route 105 in Windsor for a report of a vehicle that had slid off the roadway. The operator, Michael Smith, 22, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence.
Trooper Bethany Robinson responded to Main Street North in Searsmont for an out-of-control 13-year-old. The grandmother, who has guardianship, was advised to contact crisis when she was having problems with him again.
Trooper Scott Quintero traveled to Vinal Street in Rockport to serve Ralph Jones a summons for unlawful possession of scheduled drugs (Suboxone). Upon arriving at the home, Robyn Jones, 24, was found to be there, smoking marijuana, and was ultimately summonsed for possession of a useable amount of marijuana, sale and use of drug paraphernalia and unlawful furnishing of schedule drugs. Upon Jones' arrival at the residence, he was summonsed and released.
Feb. 22
Trooper Smith investigated the fraudulent use and theft of a debit card in Liberty. A juvenile perpetrator was identified from surveillance footage obtained from the ATM location and subsequently charged with theft.
Trooper Smith received a report of a theft of fuel from Wentworth's Family Grocery in Northport. The person who obtained the gasoline forgot to pay for it and returned to the store to settle up.
Trooper Macdonald stopped a vehicle on Route 3 in Morrill for poor operation. Following investigation Brandon Carleton, 18, was arrested for violating his conditions of release. A juvenile female passenger was questioned and a Suboxone strip was located in a cigarette carton in her sweatshirt pouch. She was arrested for unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
Feb. 23
Trooper Niles Krech stopped a vehicle in Randolph for a driver who was not wearing his seat belt. Joshua McArthur, 23, was subsequently summonsed for operating after suspension and operating a motor vehicle without registration greater than 150 days. McArthur was also given a ticket for not wearing his seat belt and no proof of insurance.
Feb. 24
Trooper Scott Quintero stopped a vehicle for traveling too fast for conditions. Upon further investigation, Scott Duffy, 30, of Camden was arrested for trafficking in schedule drugs. Heidi McCauley, 26, also of Camden, was found with 85 clonazepam pills without a prescription. McCauley was arrested for unlawful possession of drugs. The pair was transported to Kennebec County Jail.
