Maine State Police Troop D beat
AUGUSTA — Maine State Police Troop D reported the following activity, Dec. 31-Jan. 6. Below are some of the highlights, as reported by the agency. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.
Dec. 21
Trooper Niles Krech stopped a vehicle on Route 1 in West Bath for doing 69 mph in a posted 55 mph zone. Joshua Lundgren, 22, was issued summonses for speeding and for operating after suspension.
Dec. 29
Trooper Elisha Fowlie investigated a phone harassment complaint in Albion. Both parties were advised not to have contact with each other.
Trooper Bethany Robinson took a report of checks written on a closed account being passed at the General Store in Freedom.
Trooper Eric Verhille made contact with Elizabeth Gray, 18, at her residence in Chelsea. Gray was arrested and transported to Kennebec County Jail for outstanding warrants.
Dec. 31
Trooper Donald Webber responded to Maple Ridge Road in China to investigate a report of possible domestic violence. The case has been submitted for review by the District Attorney.
Trooper Mark Ferreira stopped Valerie Naiva, 47, of Augusta, on Water Street in Randolph. Naiva was summonsed for operating after suspension and released from the scene. Her vehicle was towed from the scene.
Trooper James Macdonald stopped a vehicle on Route 17 in Windsor. Walker Cooper, 19. was charged with failing to register a vehicle greater than 150 days.
Jan. 1
Trooper Macdonald stopped a vehicle on Kidder Road in China for having a dirty and partially un-readable rear plate. Further investigation revealed Aaron Dees, 23, was in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Dees was charged with possession of a usable amount of marijuana.
Trooper Macdonald stopped a vehicle in Augusta for having an expired registration. Further investigation revealed the operator, Morgen Kravitz, 32. had a suspended driver's license. Kravitz was charged with operating after suspension.
Trooper Macdonald stopped a vehicle on Route 137 in China because the operator was not wearing his seatbelt and was speeding. Mark Dolloff, 18, was ultimately charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and cited for not wearing his seatbelt.
Trooper Macdonald stopped a vehicle on Route 32 in China because the operator was not wearing his seatbelt. Investigation revealed Daryl Chase, 27, had a suspended driver's license. Chase was charged with operating after suspension and cited for not wearing his seatbelt.
Trooper Benjamin Sweeney stopped a vehicle on Route 141 in Belfast for a vehicle defect. The operator, Wayne Grotton, 33, of Belfast, was driving on a suspended license and summonsed for the offense.
Trooper Robinson and Recruit Desiree Wuthenow took a report of an assault in Belfast. The investigation continues.
Trooper Ferreira stopped Jaime Solomon, 31, of Bangor, in Windsor for expired registration and an expired inspection sticker. Solomon was summonsed for operating after suspension and operating an unregistered motor vehicle greater than 150 days and released from the scene.
Trooper Evan Teel stopped Randi Davis, 42, of Northport, for an expired registration while operating her vehicle on Route 52 in Belfast. Davis was ultimately summonsed for operating an unregistered motor vehicle greater than 150 Days.
Jan. 2
Trooper Teel stopped Brian Carrara, 23, of Waldo, for a speed violation on Route 3 in Belmont. Carrara was summonsed for attachment of false plates and for speeding.
Trooper Robert Cejka responded to a vehicle in the snow along I-295 south in Richmond. Maura E. Duclos, 46, was arrested for operating under the influence.
Trooper Macdonald went to Davenport Street in Augusta in search of the registered owner to an abandoned vehicle. The trooper was advised the subject he was looking for no longer lived there, but he detected the odor of marijuana coming from the house. Raymond Morang, 21, was ultimately charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Trooper Kyle Pelletier stopped Zachariah Martin, 19, on Route 3 in China for operating an unregistered motor vehicle in excess of 150 days. Martin was issued a criminal summons for the offense.
Jan. 3
Trooper Pelletier stopped Katheryn Munro, 36, on Bangor Street in Augusta for operating an unregistered motor vehicle in excess of 150 days. Munro was issued a criminal summons for the offense.
Trooper Fowlie and Recruit Thomas Bureau assisted in investigating a case on Pond Road in Albion. While at the scene, a vehicle slid off the road outside the residence. Trooper Fowlie made contact with the operator, Ian Wentworth, 21, and learned he was operating with a suspended driver's license, illegally attached plates, no insurance, was in possession of drug paraphernalia and had an active warrant for his arrest. The female passenger in the car, Shannon Bryant, 21, was also on bail conditions and had two active warrants for her arrest. Sgt. Michael Field assisted in transporting the subjects to the Kennebec County Jail. Wentworth was charged with all of the aforementioned offenses.
Troopers Fowlie and Webber responded to Windsor Neck Road in Windsor for a report of a domestic dispute. No charges were issued.
Trooper Webber responded to Lakeview Drive in China for an unattended death.
Troopers Webber, John Lacoste, Fowlie and Recruit Bureau responded to Albion for a possible suicidal subject.
Trooper Verhille responded to Town House Road in Chelsea for a suspicious incident complaint.
Jan. 4
Trooper Verhille took a Facebook harassment complaint in Chelsea. The complainant was advised to report his complaint to Facebook.
Troopers Adam McNaughton, William Plourde and Sgt. Field responded to Mann Road in China for a domestic assault. Dwayne Kuse, 42, was arrested for domestic assault and transported to the Kennebec County Jail.
Trooper Robinson and Recruit Wuthenow stopped a vehicle on Harriman Road in Swanville for a defect. Brian Carroll, 27, of Swanville, was arrested and transported to the Waldo County Jail where he was summonsed for possession of schedule W drugs.
Trooper Sweeney stopped a vehicle on Route 1A in Prospect for a seatbelt violation. Thomas Pezold was excused from wearing his seatbelt but had a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear. He was arrested and transported to Waldo County Jail without incident.
Trooper Krech stopped a vehicle on 295N in Bowdoinham for doing 78 mph. Stephen Washington (57) was suspended. Washington was given a ticket for no proof of insurance along with a summons for OAS.
Jan. 5
Trooper Krech located Harley Bowring, 22, to question her in a case of stolen identify where Bowring used another person's social security number to open up a CMP account in their name and charged over $2,500 in electricity bills to it. Bowring was summonsed for theft of services and misuse of identification.
Trooper Rogers and Recruit Seth Allen stopped Mark Cutting, 42, on Route 126 for erratic operation and expired registration. He was summonsed for operating after suspension and released from the scene.
Trooper Rogers and Recruit Allen received a telephone harassment complaint from a complainant in Bowdoinham. Follow up was done with the complainant on Jan. 6 and she advised no further blocked calls had been made to her and she no longer needed assistance.
Trooper Ferreira stopped Paul G. Peaslee, 30, of Gardiner, on Route 9 in Chelsea. Peaslee was issued a summons for operating after suspension (infraction).
Trooper Ferreira stopped John Thayer, 26, of Pittston, for speeding on Route 9 in Chelsea. Further investigation disclosed marijuana in the vehicle. Thayer was summonsed for a usable amount of marijuana and released from the scene.
Trooper Pelletier stopped Stacy-Lee Taylor, 29, on Hospital Street in Augusta for operating a motor vehicle with a headlight defect. Taylor's license was under suspension and she was subsequently summonsed for the offense.
Trooper Webber responded to Ogden's Self Storage in Albion for a reported burglary. It was determined that the burglary occurred in the early morning hours of Jan. 5 and several items were reported stolen. The investigation is ongoing.
Trooper Sweeney stopped a vehicle on Route 141 in Monroe for a seatbelt violation. Dale Emerson, 52, of Plymouth, Mass., had a revoked driver's license in Massachusetts. He was charged for the offense.
Jan. 6
Trooper Corey Smith arrested Aron Fairbanks, 42, of Burnham on an outstanding warrant. He was transported to the jail without incident.
Trooper Rogers and Recruit Allen stopped a vehicle on I-295 in Richmond for defective trailer lights. The odor of burnt marijuana was smelled coming from the vehicle and Peter Lund, 53, and Kenneth Fisher, 24, were summonsed for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Trooper Greg Stevens and Recruit Erin Ball stopped a motor vehicle traveling south on Water Street in Randolph for an expired inspection sticker. Upon further investigation, the operator was found to be operating after suspension with two prior operating after suspension convictions. Kristopher Belanger, 31, of Lewiston, was arrested and transported to Kennebec County Jail.
