Maine State Police Troop D beat

    AUGUSTA — Maine State Police Troop D reported the following activity, Jan. 6-13. Below are some of the highlights, as reported by the agency. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    Jan. 6

    Trooper Corey Smith charged Aron Fairbanks, 42, of Burnham, with negotiating a worthless instrument as a result of an investigation into bad checks originating at Troy General Store.

    Trooper Mark Ferreira stopped Diane Meader, 50, of Farmingdale, on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale and summonsed her for attaching false plates.

    Troopers James MacDonald and Shawn Porter responded to Belmont for a domestic disturbance. Statements were collected and they will be turned over to the Waldo County District Attorney's Office for review.

    Jan. 7

    Trooper Christopher Rogers and Recruit Seth Allen stopped Ryan Pelletier, 30, on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale for a headlight violation. Investigation lead to a consent search of the vehicle, which revealed two marijuana pipes, a usable amount of marijuana and two oxycodone pills. Pelletier was charged with possession of a usable amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of schedule W drugs.

    Trooper Macdonald stopped a vehicle on Maple Street in Farmingdale for swerving. Investigation revealed the operator, Blair Laubenstein, 30, was under the influence of alcohol. Laubenstein was arrested for operating under the influence.

    Trooper Elisha Fowlie and Recruit Thomas Bureau received a complaint of phone harassment in Searsmont. The complainant reported a possible scam from Publishers Clearing House. She was told to advise them to stop calling her residence and also to get caller ID so she wouldn't have to answer the phone.

    Trooper Fowlie and Recruit Bureau stopped a vehicle on Route 131 in Searsmont for an expired inspection sticker. Michael E. Micklich, 41, was summonsed for failure to register a motor vehicle expired greater than 150 days.

    Trooper Evan Teel stopped Sheila Whittier, 52, of Appleton, on Route 17 in Union for an expired registration. Whittier's registration expired in February 2012 and she was summonsed for operating an unregistered motor vehicle greater than 150 days.

    Trooper Eric Verhille responded to a complaint of a vehicle passing a school bus while its red lights were flashing. Statements were collected from the complainant and the investigation continues.

    Trooper Verhille responded to a theft of a motor vehicle complaint in Farmingdale. The investigation continues.

    Jan. 8

    Trooper Verhille responded to a theft complaint in Litchfield. It was reported someone had stolen bags of returnable cans from the outside storage shed. The investigation continues.

    Trooper Verhille responded to a burglary complaint in Litchfield. The complainants, who are living in Florida for the winter, were notified that their summer place had been broken into. The investigation continues.

    Trooper Teel reported a two-vehicle motor vehicle crash on Route 17 in Windsor. There were no injuries.

    Trooper Rogers and Recruit Allen charged Brett Turcotte, 20, and Christopher Ellis, 23, with possession of a usable amount of marijuana after observing them pull into a parking lot on Hallowell Litchfield Road in Litchfield and smoke marijuana. A search for additional contraband, as well as their vehicle, turned up a usable amount of marijuana on each of the individuals.

    Trooper Stephen Morrell stopped Ira Bailey, 30, in Belmont for a vehicle defect. Investigation revealed Bailey was in possession of drug paraphernalia and he was summoned for the offense.

    Jan. 9

    Sgt. Michael Field was monitoring southbound traffic on I-295 in West Gardiner and observed an operator pass by that was not wearing her seat belt. Jessica Theriault, 21, of Waterville, was ultimately summonsed for driving on a suspended license.

    Trooper Bethany Robinson and Recruit Desiree Wuthenow responded to Morrill for a report of a family fight between a brother and sister. Contact was made with both parties and the male was issued with a trespass notice not to return to his sister's address.

    Trooper Smith responded to a residence in Liberty for the report of a suspicious person. Investigation revealed the person was a propane delivery driver who successfully located the proper address at a home nearby.

    Troopers Smith and Benjamin Sweeney responded to a home in Northport for a disturbance. Investigation revealed a mother and child arguing. No evidence of a crime was found.

    Trooper Smith investigated a report of telephone harassment in Northport. The situation was resolved as the parties agreed not contact each other for the remainder of the night.

    Trooper Verhille responded to Farmingdale after a complainant called 911 to report her 7-year-old grandson had assaulted her and was out of control. Verhille spoke with both subjects and advised the grandmother, who is the child's legal guardian, this was a parental issue. No further action was required.

    Jan. 10

    Trooper Verhille responded to a 911 hang up in Litchfield. Further investigation revealed a family fight between a father and son. There was no assault and both parties separated for the day.

    Trooper Verhille located Andrew Bensant, 35, after learning he had an outstanding warrant. Bensant was arrested on the warrant.

    Trooper Robinson and Recruit Wuthenow responded to North Palermo Road for a report of a family fight. Both parties were issued warnings for disorderly conduct.

    Trooper Robinson and Recruit Wuthenow responded to Searsmont for a third-party report of a domestic dispute. The complainant advised that her ex-boyfriend from Rhode Island was calling and harassing her. The male subject was contacted and warned for harassment.

    Troopers Stevens and James Leonard, and Recruit Ball, responded to a 911 hang-up call that was made in the vicinity of Pine Tree Road in Litchfield. After checking several residences, the caller could not be located.

    Jan. 11

    Trooper Ferreira stopped Dana White, 24, of Gardiner, on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale for not wearing her seatbelt. It was discovered that there was marijuana in the vehicle. White was subsequently charged for possession of a usable amount of marijuana.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped Jennette Ferry, 32, of Gardiner, on High Street in Gardiner for expired registration. Ferry was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle unregistered greater than 150 days.

    Trooper Ferreira and Recruit Allen stopped Ronald Saulnier, 42, and Melissa Saulnier, 41, both of Gardiner, on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale for operating a motor vehicle without in an inspection sticker. During the stop the odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. Both were summonsed for possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Trooper Stephen Morrell stopped Eric Johnson, 39, in Morrill for operating a vehicle without a visible license plate. Johnson was summoned for operating an unregistered motor vehicle greater than 150 days.

    Jan. 12

    Trooper Morrell stopped a vehicle in Morrill for an inspection violation. Subsequently Edwin Littlefield, 39, was arrested for unlawful possession of a scheduled W drug and passengers Dillon Smith, 18, and Ivory Young, 37, were charged with possession of a useable amount of marijuana and sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped Marc Sweatt, 42, of Gorham, on I-295 in Gardiner for an expired registration. Sweatt was summonsed for operating an unregistered motor vehicle greater than 150 days.

    Sgt. Pat Hood investigated a car-pedestrian crash that occurred in the parking lot of the Appleton Town Office. The pedestrian was taken to Maine Medical Center for treatment for a broken leg. No charges are pending.

    Sgt. Hood stopped Enoch Burgess, 26, of Columbia Falls, on Route 17 in Rockport for having a disabled motor vehicle. Investigation revealed Burgess had just purchased the vehicle and had not properly registered or insured the car. He was charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

    Trooper Rogers and Recruit Allen observed a vehicle traveling on Route 126 in West Gardiner that had an expired inspection sticker. Upon investigation, Ricky Hill, 53, was charged with operating with an expired license over 90 days.
