Ronald R. Achorn, Sr., obituary
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Florida — Ronald R. Achorn, Sr., died Saturday, October 11, 2025, at a Hospice Facility here. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Ron was raised and attended school in Thomaston, Maine.
Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force in August 1955. He proudly served his country throughout the Vietnam War, being in theater twice during that time. Ron retired from the Air Force, December 31, 1975. Shortly afterwards, Ron moved his family to Chicopee, Massachusetts and resided there until 1985.
Thereafter, Ron moved into his dream home on Washington Pond in Washington, Maine where he and his wife resided as Florida snowbirds until he could no longer make that journey in 2016. With his wife, Ron spent the remainder of his life in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
Ron was very much a family-oriented person. He took great pleasure in listening to music, fixing just about anything and keeping in touch with our country's affairs.
Ron is survived by his wife of 61 years, Donna A. Smallwood Achorn, of Altamonte Springs, Florida; his siblings and their spouses, Carl and Algie of Massachusetts, Robert "Bobby" and Trudy of Yarmouth, Maine, Linda Marshall and Ken of Lincolnville, Maine; his children and their spouses Tanya Huntley, formally of Rockland, Maine, Cheryl Murray and Chuck of Orlando, Florida, Ron Jr and Lori of Chicopee, Massachusetts; several grandchildren, Krista, Christopher, Jeff, Dan, Sean and Nathan, as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by his family.

A graveside service will be held Friday, November 7, 2025, at 2 p.m., at Achorn Cemetery, Old County Road, Rockland.
