Rockland Police continues investigation into school bus fatality
Rockland Police Department, including Rockland’s Criminal Investigation Division, are working closely with the Knox County District Attorney’s Office to continue to investigate the tragic fatal accident that occurred Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, involving a child.
According to Rockland Deputy Chief Alex Gaylor, in a Nov. 24 news release, experts assisting RPD in the investigation include the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor’s Program, Office of Chief Medical Examiner, Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit and Maine State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.
At this time, the operator of the bus involved has been placed on administrative leave and RSU 13 is fully cooperating with the investigation, according to Gaylor.
"We ask for the public’s patience while we continue to investigate this tragic incident," he said. "Out of respect for the privacy of the family, and the integrity of the investigation, we will not be releasing any additional details at this time. We ask that our community keep the victim and their family in their thoughts and prayers and would like to offer our sincerest condolences."
