ROCKPORT — Melissa Ann Donaher, 40, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2024.

Born in Derby, Connecticut, December 24, 1983, Melissa was the daughter of Monica Donaher.

Melissa was known to all for her huge heart and endless kindness. She was a savior to many, and if anyone was in need, she would be the first person to come to their rescue. She went out of her way to volunteer and advocate for both people and animals in need. She was an active member of her community and her extended family, friends, and neighbors bore witness to her love, devotion, and generosity.

Her love was evident to everyone who knew her. Melissa adored and doted on her daughter, Emma, who was her world and took precedence over everything in her life. She was also a lover of all animals. Her family said she was “truly too kind for this world.”

A quote from one of the favorite songs she and Emma shared sums up a lot for her family…

“Look at the sky tonight, all of those stars have a reason, A reason to shine, a reason like mine and I’m fallin’ to pieces, Look at the sky tonight, all of those stars have a reason.” - Gustav Elijah Ahr

Melissa will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

Predeceased by her mother, Monica Donaher; Melissa is survived by her daughter, Emma Vydas of Camden; Emma’s father and Melissa’s companion, Christopher Vydas of Camden; as well as a brother and a half-brother.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
