“Bike bus” to pedal to South School

Rockland celebrates Bike to work (and school), May 17

ROCKLAND — On the morning of Friday, May 17, the City of Rockland will celebrate Bike to Work (+ School!) Day with a free community event at Chapman Park. From 7 to 8:30 a.m., community members are invited to pedal over to Chapman Park for free coffee, breakfast snacks, and freebies. Chapman Park is located at the corner of Park Street and Main Street, in Rockland.

This year, the City is expanding this event to include students. South School students and families are invited to join the City at Chapman Park for a morning of free fun on bikes. A bike bus – a group bike ride to school – will depart Chapman Park for South School at 8:15 a.m., chaperoned by Rockland Police Department’s Bike Patrol Unit and volunteers.

This year’s Bike to Work (+ School!) Day is made possible thanks to the generous support of Good Tern Co-Op, Rock City Coffee, Ruckus Donuts, Rockland Hannaford, Walgreens, Maine Sport Outfitters, Sidecountry Sports, Pen Bay Community Health, Bicycle Coalition of Maine, and Rockland Rolls.
