Maine State Police Troop D beat

    AUGUSTA — Maine State Police Troop D reported the following activity, March 1-31. Below are some of the highlights, as reported by the agency. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    March 1

    Trooper Mark Ferreira arrested Robert Dumont, 28, of Monmouth, after he was found to have consumed alcohol, a violation of conditions of his release.

    March 2

    Trooper Ferreira responded to two separate vehicles off the road with reportable damage; both vehicles were unattended. Jeremy Campbell, 22, of Pittston, and Charles Slonina, 51, of Lewiston, were both summonsed for failure to give notice of an accident by quickest means.

    Troopers Quintero and Robinson arrested Katie Robinson, 19, of China, for unlawful possession of schedule Z drugs, possession of a useable amount of marijuana and violating conditions of release.

    March 3

    Trooper Ferreira stopped Nicholas Milliken, 25, of Brooks, on School Street in Unity for not wearing a seatbelt. After determining Milliken's license was suspended he was summonsed for operating after suspension.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped Tammy Rheault of Troy for an expired inspection sticker on Main Street in Unity. After determining that Rheault's license was suspended she was summonsed for operating after suspension.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped Terry Shorey, 52, of Unity, after running the registration of the vehicle he was operating and discovering that his license was suspended, Shorey was summonsed for operating after suspension.

    Troopers Bethany Robinson, Evan Teel and Scott Quintero conducted a bail check on Patrick Bickford, 25, of Jackson. After discovering alcohol at Bickford's residence he was transported to the Waldo County Jail where Probation and Parole Officer Bob Cartier placed him on a probation hold.

    Trooper Robert Cejka stopped Geraldine Morrell, 42, on I-295 in West Gardiner for operating erratically. She performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested for operating under the influence. Morrell was taken to the Kennebec County Jail while a family friend took custody of her 8-year-old daughter, who was in the back seat at the time of her arrest.

    March 4

    Troopers Benjamin Sweeney and Donald Webber arrested Tyler Mitchell, 19, in Pittsfield, on a warrant for failure to appear.

    Trooper Evan Teel arrested Matthew Johnson, 34, of Burnham, on a warrant for possession of synthetic hallucinogenics (bath salts).

    March 5

    Troopers Bethany Robinson and Elisha Fowlie investigated a home invasion on Wanning Road in Unity. After investigating, Danny Green, 27, of Waterville, Bryan Gower, 22, of Waterville, Paige Lanctot, 19, of Skowhegan and Alexander Salvas, 18, of Skowhegan were arrested in connection with the crime.

    Trooper Webber responded to a report of a vehicle pulled over on I-295 southbound with a subject possibly passed out in the driver's seat. Kendra Vigue, 31, of Gardiner, had run out of gas. It was subsequently determined Vigue had a suspended license and an outstanding warrant and she was arrested as well as summonsed for operating after suspension.

    Trooper Webber arrested Jacob Choate, 23, of Augusta, on a warrant. He was also charged with unlawful possession of schedule W drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Augusta Police Officer Eric Lloyd assisted with the arrest.

    March 6

    Trooper Webber summonsed Devon Hamel, 18, of Pittston, for possession of a useable amount of marijuana and for speeding 79 mph on Route 3 in Vassalboro.

    Trooper Benjamin Sweeney stopped a van on School Street in Unity for a vehicle defect. Frederick McGuire, 55, of Troy, was discovered to have a suspended license and was summonsed for the offense.

    Trooper Corey Smith found Kellie King, 26, of Jackson, operating a vehicle after suspension in Waldo; she was summonsed for the offense and released.

    Trooper Kyle Pelletier stopped Walter Tarbox, 40, for operating a vehicle with expired registration on I-295 in Richmond. A search of the vehicle was subsequently conducted and a useable amount of marijuana was found. Tarbox was summonsed for possession of a usable amount of marijuana and sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

    Trooper Mark Ferreira stopped Michael White, 42, of Thorndike, on Main Street in Unity for displaying a suspicious sticker. White was summonsed for displaying a fictitious inspection sticker and released.

    March 7

    Trooper Webber arrested Jennifer Hunt, 36, of Burnham on a warrant.

    March 8

    Sgt. Patrick Hood and Trooper Shawn Porter responded to the report of a vehicle off the road on Troy Road in Burnham. During the course of the investigation the suspect was deemed to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken to Sebasticook Hospital for a blood test. Results of the test are pending.

    Trooper Teel summonsed Tyler Leach, 24, of Morrill, for passing a stopped school bus while two students were being picked up on Route 7 in Brooks.

    Trooper Cejka investigated a charge of juror tampering at West Bath District Court. Jurors reported to the Assistant District Attorney that defendant Joseph Solomon, 36, held up a sign that read: "Please don't railroad your veterans." On March 9, Troopers Cejka, Teel and Adam McNaughton, along with a Waldoboro officer, located Solomon at his residence where he was arrested without incident for tampering with a juror and violating conditions of release. Solomon was taken to Two Bridges Jail.

    Trooper Ferreira and Trooper Christopher Rogers stopped a vehicle on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale for operating with an obscured license plate. Andrew Severy, 22, of Augusta, was ultimately summonsed for possession of a usable amount of marijuana.

    March 9

    Trooper Ferreira stopped a vehicle on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale for operating with a defective taillight. Karen Rybka, 27, of West Gardiner, was summonsed for operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped a vehicle traveling on Route 27 in Pittston for a seatbelt violation. Shawn Burgess, 37, of Leeds, was subsequently arrested on a warrant for operating after suspension. Burgess also had an outstanding warrant from the U.S. Marshals for a crime in Tennessee. Burgess was taken to Kennebec County Jail on his warrant out of Maine and also charged with being a fugitive from justice.

    Trooper Rogers stopped Casey Walsh-Storey, 23, on Route 201 in Farmingdale. She was charged with operating under the influence.

    Trooper Rogers stopped a vehicle for speeding on I-295 in West Gardiner. A consent search was conducted and a passenger, Michael Loranger, 26, was found to be in possession of a useable amount or marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Loranger was summonsed for both offenses.

    March 10

    Trooper Corey Smith investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in Troy, where a vehicle had been damaged during an attempted burglary.

    Trooper Smith responded to the report of an unresponsive student at Unity College. The student was found to have lost consciousness due to alcohol consumption and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The student, who is underage, was charged accordingly.

    Troopers Smith and Sweeney responded to Burnham for a report of disorderly conduct. The parties involved were separated and no charges were filed.

    Trooper Robinson and Waldo County Sheriff's Deputy Jordan Tozier responded to a motor vehicle crash on Albion Road in Unity. The driver, Becky Mercure, 21, of Unity, was arrested for operating after license suspension. Jason Brewster, 30, of Unity, was summonsed for violating conditions of release after it was discovered he had been consuming alcohol.

    March 11

    Troopers Corey Smith and Benjamin Sweeney responded to the report of a juvenile barricading himself in the bathroom of a Burnham residence, and armed with a razor blade. The juvenile was cooperative with troopers and was found unharmed.

    March 12

    Trooper Smith summonsed Molly Cronin, 20, of Unity, with possession of liquor by a minor after investigating a report of underage drinking at Unity College.

    Trooper James Macdonald arrested Brian Fogg, 22, on a warrant and summonsed Tess Morrison, 21, for operating after suspension. While issuing Morrison her summons, Macdonald detected the odor of marijuana and further investigation revealed she was in possession of drug paraphernalia. Morrison was also summonsed for sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

    Trooper Donald Webber arrested Jay Gibson, 21, on Route 3 in Liberty on a warrant and transported him to the Waldo County Jail, where it was revealed he was in violation of bail conditions stipulating that he was prohibited from consuming alcohol. Gibson was charged with violating conditions of release after being given a breathalyzer test.

    March 13

    Trooper Webber stopped Travis Brown, 29, of Stockton Springs, on Route 3 in Searsmont for a non-moving violation. Trooper Webber determined that Brown had a suspended license and issued a summons for operating after suspension.

    Troopers Mark Ferreira and Macdonald assisted the Major Crimes Unit and Tactical Team with the arrest of wanted man on Barker Road in Troy.

    Trooper Kyle Pelletier stopped Tiffany Jo Caton, 45, on Route 197 in Litchfield for speeding. Caton was summonsed for operating with expired registration (in excess of 150 days).

    Trooper Sweeney stopped a vehicle on Bangor Road in Troy for a traffic violation. Benjamin Katz, 34, of Palermo, denied having drugs in the vehicle, however marijuana was found during a vehicle search. Katz was summonsed for possession of a usable amount of marijuana.

    March 14

    Trooper Sweeney took a report of a vehicle being stolen from a fire station while the owner was fighting a fire in Troy. The vehicle was located in Dixmont the next morning. The case remains under investigation.

    Trooper Macdonald summonsed Megan Dichter, 43, for criminal speeding 83 mph in a 45 mph zone on Lakeview Drive in China.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped Christopher M. Vella, 36, of Morrill, on Route 220 in Unity for expired registration. Vella was summonsed for operating an unregistered motor vehicle (in excess of 150 days).

    Trooper Pelletier investigated a burglary in West Gardiner, where the homeowner reported that all of her prescription medications and assorted coins were missing from the residence. The investigation is ongoing.

    March 15

    Trooper Pelletier responded to Plains Road in Litchfield for a report of a domestic disturbance. No charges were filed.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped a vehicle on Depot Street in Unity for seat belt violations. The operator, Joel Bowley, 47, of Newport, had a suspended driver's license and was charged with operating after suspension.

    Troopers Evan Teel and Bethany Robinson arrested Derek Ricker, 22, of Jackson, for operating under the influence.

    March 16

    Trooper Webber stopped April Dupont, 34, of Randolph, in Chelsea for a non-moving violation. Dupont was arrested and transported to Kennebec County Jail after Webber discovered a small amount of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

    Troopers Niles Krech and Webber conducted a probation check on Terrence Boone, 35, in Farmingdale. Wayne Winkley, 48, who was also at the residence, was discovered to have an outstanding warrant. Boone and Winkley were arrested and transported to Kennebec County Jail without incident.

    March 17

    Troopers James Leonard and Robert Cejka responded to a report of domestic assault in Litchfield. Dustin Brooks, 26, who is currently on probation for a previous domestic violence assault, was charged with domestic violence assault and violating probation.

    Trooper Robinson took a report of harassment from a complainant in Jackson.

    Trooper Smith charged Kaylee McClure, 24, of Winterport, with trespassing after receiving a report that she had entered the property of Winterport's On-The-Run after previously being told not to return.

    Trooper Smith investigated the report of a runaway from a residence in Swanville. The juvenile was located by police in Belfast and returned to his parents.

    March 18

    Trooper Corey Smith and K9 Freyja assisted an agency in Rockland with their attempt to find evidence related to a drug crime. The K9 team located evidence buried in a streambed after searching a wooded area.

    Trooper Kyle Pelletier stopped Timothy Ward, 51, on Route 32 in China for speeding. Ward's license was under suspension for failure to pay fines; he was summonsed for operating after suspension.

    Trooper James Macdonald stopped Andrew Woehler, 35, in Swanville. Woehler was summonsed for operating after suspension, attaching false plates and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    March 19

    Trooper Smith and K9 Freyja assisted Maine State Police Troop E with a narcotic search of a suspicious vehicle and its occupants on I-95. No contraband was found.

    March 20

    Trooper Kyle Ferreira was called to Beech Street in Chelsea for a residential burglary. The investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Christopher Rogers summonsed Eric Friberg, 42, for criminal speeding 95 mph in a 65mph zone on I-95 in Lewiston.

    March 21

    Trooper Rogers responded to an alarm at the Windsor Vet Clinic on Route 32. Investigation revealed the building had been broken into by using a crowbar on a window. John Gilboy, 38, was ultimately arrested and charged with burglary, possession of schedule Z and W drugs and trafficking in prison contraband.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped Jacob Dunbar, 20, of Jefferson, on Route 201 in Gardiner for an inspection sticker violation. Further investigation revealed that there was marijuana in the vehicle. Dunbar was summonsed for possession of a usable amount of marijuana.

    Trooper Robert Cejka was conducting a vehicle stop on I-295, at the mile marker 51 southbound exit ramp in West Gardiner when a vehicle turned in the wrong direction and attempted to travel north in the southbound lane. Glenn W. Bailey, 58, of Pittston, was arrested on suspicion of operating under the influence and taken to the Gardiner Police Department for an intoxilyzer test. Bailey refused the test and was charged with operating under the influence.

    Trooper Macdonald stopped a vehicle on Swan Lake Avenue in Swanville for speeding. Nicole Carbisiero, 28, had a suspended license and was summonsed for operating after suspension.

    Trooper Elisha Fowlie arrested Meredith Day, 35, for operating under the influence on Route 1 in Newcastle. Day was transported to Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset.

    Trooper Evan Teel received a report of the theft of a Kindle ebook reader in Stockton Springs. The juvenile who reported the incident believes it occurred during a party she attended. The investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper James Leonard responded to a motor vehicle crash on Barber Road in Randolph. The unoccupied vehicle was found by a passerby on its side with the motor running. The investigation is ongoing.

    March 22

    Trooper Leonard investigated a protection order violation in Bristol. The investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Teel summonsed Tammy Littlefield, 38, of Belfast, for operating an unregistered motor vehicle on Route 1 in Belfast.

    Trooper Bethany Robinson took a complaint of forgery of checks from the owner of Swanlake Grocery. Wayne Hutchinson, 42, of Stockton Springs, was interviewed and arrested for forgery, receiving stolen property and theft by deception.

    Trooper Robinson spoke with a complainant from Monroe who reported her ex-husband had been making threats to their daughter, who lives in Portland. The complainant was advised to seek a protection order and her daughter was advised to contact the Portland Police Department if she wanted to report the incidents.

    Trooper Fowlie took a missing persons report from a woman who stated her husband had left 24 hours prior on foot and had not returned. On March 23 Trooper Fowlie learned that the man had returned home.

    March 23

    Trooper Fowlie received a complaint of a stolen wallet. The complainant reported her wallet was stolen from her unlocked car while at a party in China.

    Trooper Greg Stevens took a complaint of aggravated domestic assault, which occurred March 21. The victim reported Timothy Norton, 33, had attacked and choked her until she lost consciousness. Norton was arrested and transported to Two Bridges County Jail.

    Trooper Benjamin Sweeney went to Pine View Drive in Winterport in search of Mark Sutherland, 29, who had an outstanding warrant. Once located, Sutherland was arrested and transported to Waldo County Jail.

    Trooper Sweeney initiated a traffic stop in Winterport for a vehicle speeding 80 mph in a 50 mph zone. Mason Hurd, 19, of Morrill, was summonsed for criminal speeding.

    Trooper Jonathan Leach responded to a call of an unattended death in Pittston.

    Trooper Leach responded to a complaint on Windsor Street in Randoph. Trooper Leach placed Damian Sullivan, 24, under arrest for violating conditions of release and he was transported to the Kennebec County Jail.

    Trooper Smith stopped a vehicle on Route 1 in Prospect for a defect and registration violation. David Asmussen, 32, of Portland, was summonsed for operating a motor vehicle with expired registration (over 150 days).

    Trooper Stevens and Sgt. Mills located Timothy Norton, 33, in Coopers Mills and arrested him for aggravated domestic assault, stemming from an incident in Somerville.

    March 24

    Trooper Ferreira stopped a vehicle on Hallowell Road in Chelsea for not having a front plate. It was determined that Natasha Gagne, 26, of Chelsea, had a suspended license and she was summonsed for operating after suspension.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped a vehicle on Bangor Street in Augusta for not displaying a front plate. A passenger in the vehicle, Tami Gagne, 41, of Augusta, was arrested on a warrant and taken to Kennebec County Jail.

    Trooper Macdonald stopped a vehicle on Swan Lake Avenue in Belfast for speeding. Further investigation revealed Kristin Harvey, 21, was on bail conditions and in possession of a marijuana pipe. Harvey was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

    March 25

    Trooper Pelletier stopped Marcus Varin, 28, for speeding on Route 32 in China. Varin's license was under suspension and he was summonsed for the offense.

    March 26

    Trooper Cejka stopped Dawn T. Gray, 39, for speeding on I-295 in Bowdoinham. Her license was suspended and she was charged for operating after suspension.

    Trooper Cejka stopped Nitasha L. Defreitas, 24, for speeding on I-295 in Richmond. She was summonsed for operating without a license and for speeding.

    Trooper Teel responded to a residence in Stockton Springs for the report of a suspicious person. A search of the area was conducted and no one was located.

    March 27

    Trooper Teel responded to a residence in Swanville for the report of stolen license plates. Investigation revealed the complainants had sold a vehicle and let the new owners use the plates to drive the car home. The complainants were advised to cancel the registration.

    Trooper Fowlie conducted a welfare check of a woman on Caswell Road in Windsor. Rescue was called and arrived for a transport.

    Trooper Leonard summonsed Alex Murphy, 28, for theft and forgery after he admitted to stealing a check from his friend, writing the check to himself and cashing it.

    Trooper Leonard responded to a telephone harassment complaint in Windsor. The complainant was encouraged to seek a harassment order.

    March 28

    Troopers Smith and Sweeney responded to the report of a suicidal teen in Swanville. The teen was willing to accompany them to the hospital for an evaluation.

    Trooper Smith was requested to respond to a residence in Searsport to assist in locating a woman who fled on foot after an assault. As the K9 team searched for her track, the woman, Danielle Seekins, 25, returned and was arrested.

    Trooper Robinson observed two vehicles traveling west on Route 3, the first traveling at 88 mph and the second at 89 mph. The operator of the first vehicle, Taylor Simmons, 16, of Palermo, was summonsed for criminal speed and driving to endanger after almost hitting a smaller car. The operator of the second vehicle, Cole Vanwickler, 17, was summonsed for criminal speed.

    March 29

    Trooper Smith arrested Cristin Harvey, 21, of Swanville, for violation of deferred disposition agreement and violating conditions of release.

    Troopers Robinson and Teel responded to Swanlake Avenue in Swanville in reference to an assault that had taken place. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney's Office for review.

    Trooper Cejka stopped Michael F. Lawler, 23, of Boston, Mass., for speeding on I-295 in Bowdoinham. Lawler's license was suspended in Maine and he was charged with operating after suspension and an open container violation, as an adult female passenger was drinking a beer.

    Trooper Cejka stopped Joseph E. Wilson, 57, of Houlton, on I-295 in Bowdoinham for speeding. The investigation discovered that Wilson was in possession of 10 baggies of marijuana and a glass jar of marijuana. He was charged with criminal possession of a scheduled drug.

    March 30

    Trooper Cejka stopped Archie Green, 24, for erratic operation on I-95 in Farmingdale. Green provided a false name and showed signs of impairment and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Once his actual name was discovered, a DMV check showed he had a suspended Maine driver's license. Green was charged with operating under the influence, operating after suspension and providing a false name and birthdate.

    Troopers Fowlie and Leonard responded to Elm Lane in Windsor for a report of a domestic. The parties were arguing and were separated for the night. The incident is being forwarded to the District Attorney's office for review.

    Trooper Webber investigated a camp burglary in China. The camp was discovered to have been entered sometime during the winter and a substantial amount of copper plumbing has been cut out. A Johnson outboard motor was also taken. The investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Pelletier responded to a domestic disturbance on Caswell Road in Windsor. The parties were engaged in a verbal argument over a child custody disagreement. No assaults had occurred and both parties agreed to separate for the evening.

    March 31

    Trooper Pelletier stopped Michael Lacasse, 19, on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale for not properly wearing his seatbelt. He was ultimately arrested for violation of a protection from abuse order and transported to Kennebec County Jail.

    Trooper Ferreira stopped a vehicle on Water Street at 1 a.m. for operating without headlights. Crystal Babcock, 22, of Pittsfield, was issued a summons for operating after suspension and released from the scene.

    Trooper Macdonald stopped a vehicle on Route 3 in Liberty for speeding. Further investigation revealed the operator, Tyler Freitas, 22, was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Tyler was charged with possession of a usable amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
