Maine Lobster Ride and Roll takes over Rockland
ROCKLAND — The 2014 Maine Lobster Ride Roll, put on by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine (BCM), took place July 19 at Oceanside High School in Rockland.
A total of 884 riders registered for the event, according to Bridgette Kelly of the BCM.
The Bicycle Coalition of Maine’s Lobster Ride & Roll follows winding, country lanes and the breathtaking rockbound coast past lighthouses, lupines and lobster boats, according to the event’s website.
There are five routes that a rider can use in the non-competitive event — the 15-mile, 30-mile, 50-mile Southern, 50-mile Northern, 80-mile or 100-mile.
The 80-mile consisted of riders completing the 50-mile Northern route and then the 30-mile route, while the 100-mile had riders complete the 50-mile Northern route, followed by the 50-mile Southern route.
All loops started and finished at Oceanside High School.
