Krista River and Stephen Porter in concert Sept. 13
Lincoln Arts Festival presents Krista River, mezzo-soprano and Stephen Porter, piano on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor at 125 Townsend Avenue.
Mezzo-soprano Krista River won a Grammy Award for the role of Mrs. Fox on Boston Modern Orchestra Project’s recording of Tobias Picker’s "Fantastic Mr. Fox." She has appeared as a soloist with the Boston Symphony, the Santa Fe Symphony, Handel & Haydn Society, the Florida Orchestra, the Charlotte Symphony, the North Carolina Symphony, and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
Krista won the Concert Artists Guild International Competition and a Sullivan Foundation grant, and is featured on numerous recordings under the Naxos, Dorian and Navona record labels. She is on the voice faculty of Brandeis University and Phillips Academy Andover, and is a regular soloist with Emmanuel Music’s Bach Cantata Series.
Ms. River is accompanied by pianist Stephen Porter, well known to Lincoln Arts audiences. Mr. Porter has performed internationally in Europe, North and South America and Asia. He appeared this season in Singapore and India, and as an artist resident of the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. Ms. River and Mr. Porter performance will include Edward Grieg: “Haugtussa Op. 67 Song Cycle The Mountain Maid," and works by Clara Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn, Handel, and Chopin.
