Jackson Memorial Library book talk: Fighting for Freedom, Fighting for Survival
On Thursday, October 16, at 5 p.m., the Jackson Memorial Library, in Tenants Harbor, will host a talk by the Lady Knox Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution on their newly published book, Fighting for Freedom, Fighting for Survival: The Revolutionary War and War of 1812 Patriots of the Tolman Cemetery, Rockland, Maine.
The book tells the history of Midcoast Maine through the lives of real people interred in Tolman Cemetery in Rockland. Their stories come to life through details of their families, daily lives, and the communities in which they lived.
Attendees will learn how the families who settled the local area fought in two wars of independence while battling nature to survive, meanwhile struggling with smugglers and privateers.
Light refreshments will be served.
This event is free.
