Monthly Art Opening & Wine Tasting at Belfast Co-op

Event has passed

On Friday, April 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Belfast Co-op Café, there will be a free wine tasting of highlighted seasonal wines and the opening for "Une Production de Produits", an exhibit of works in pen-and-ink and acrylics by Dan Kirchoff, which will be on display in the Cafe through late May.  Karolyn Melino of Pine State Beverages will host this month's tasting with a focus on fun spring wines, along with Jaap Helder from the Co-op's Wine Department, and artist Dan Kirchoff will be available to discuss his artwork.  Featured wines will be 10% off during the tasting; participants must be 21 years of age or older to attend.

Dan Kirchoff works in pen-and-ink and acrylics, and was inspired for this show by the selection of fruit and vegetables at the Belfast Co-op. During this recent extensive winter, he regularly wandered through the Co-op and picked out some food which would be fun to illustrate with acrylics. In addition, he creates drawings of downtown Belfast in pen-and-ink most every morning before heading to his job in Rockland, and will be presenting some of these as well.

With a BFA from Auburn University and over thirty years in graphic design and illustration, Dan Kirchoff has been creating pen-and-ink drawings since 1995. He has been sharing them through the pages of The Free Press, where he works, since 2005. For the past few years, Kirchoff’s been getting serious about color, working with acrylics, doing portraiture, proposals for children’s book illustrations, and shows like this. He lives on Cedar Street in Belfast with his wife, Jen, and their five cats.

All are welcome at the community-owned Belfast Co-op, open 7:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. daily, at 123 High Street in downtown Belfast; (207) 338-2532, www.belfast.coop.
