Waldoboro Police beat: Telephone harassment, theft, deer and vehicle collide
WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 130 calls for service from Jan. 18-26. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Jan. 18
Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated an accident on Depot Street at 3:41 p.m. Benjamin Dubord, 20, of Nobleboro, was driving a 2001 Subaru sport utility vehicle. Paul Dodge, 69, of Friendship, was driving a 1999 Suzuki utility vehicle. According to the police report, Dubord lost control by operating his vehicle too fast for the road conditions and struck Dodge’s vehicle in the driver’s side. No injuries were reported.
Jan. 19
Cole Packard, 22, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Officer Larry Hesseltine for speed.
Hesseltine investigated an accident on Bremen Road at 7:45 a.m. Samuel Mathew, 27, of Boothbay Harbor, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle. Mathew’s vehicle was traveling northbound on Bremen Road and according to the police report, Mathew glanced down to check his cell phone for navigation purposes and drove off the right side of the roadway. Injuries were reported.
Jan. 22
Fuller investigated an accident on Friendship Road at 6:40 a.m. Lindsey Smerdon, 22, of Bristol, was driving a 2015 Ford sedan. Her vehicle collided with a deer crossing the road.
Jan. 23
Sgt. Jamie Wilson is investigating a report from a resident of harassing phone calls.
Jan. 24
Steven Ratcliff, 56, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Officer John Lash for an uninspected motor vehicle.
Jan. 25
Fuller is investigating a report from Moody’s Diner of a customer allegedly stealing another customer’s wallet.
