South Thomaston residents arrested, charged with trafficking drugs from New Bedford
SOUTH THOMASTON — Pharmaceutical pills and hypodermic needles were seized and five Knox County residents arrested Monday night, Oct. 19, with charges ranging from trafficking and possession to falsifying physical evidence and probation violations.
Maine Drug Enforcement agents, Knox County Sheriff Department deputies, state and Thomaston police arrested the five South Thomaston and Friendship residents. MDEA Supervisor James Pease said some of the group had allegedly been traveling to New Bedford, Mass., and transporting hundreds of pills back to Knox County, according to an Oct. 20 news release from the Maine Office of Public Safety.
Following a series of searches and arrests, MDEA seized 162 Oxycodone pills, 16 Klonopin pills, eight Suboxone Strips, six Suboxone pills, hypodermic needles, and more than $5,000.
The Oxycodone pills were being sold locally for $50 to $60 each.
Those arrested included:
Kathleen Zable, 24, of South Thomaston. She was charged with Trafficking Oxycodone Class B. Her bail was set at $500 cash and she has a court date of Dec 14.
Kevin Richards, 25, of South Thomaston. He was charged with Possession of Suboxone Class D and violation of probation. Bail was set on the possession charge at $1,000 unsecured. He is still being held at the Knox County Jail on the probation violation.
Jason Walsh, 33, of South Thomaston. He was charged with Trafficking Oxycodone Class B. His bail was set at $500 cash and he has a court date of Dec 14.
Karrie Prior, 24, of Friendship. She was charged with Falsifying Physical Evidence class D and violation of probation. Her bail on the charge of Falsifying Physical Evidence was set at $750 unsecured. She is still being held at the Knox County Jail on the probation violation.
Duane Natale, 37, of South Thomaston. He was charged with Possession of Oxycodone Class C. His bail was set at $1,000 with a court date of Dec 14.
Police searched Richards' house on Quarry Lane and Natale's house on the Dublin Road, both in South Thomaston. Both Richards and Natale were arrested at their homes.
Walsh and Zable were arrested after deputies stopped a car in South Thomaston.
Thomaston police stopped another car in Thomaston that had several people in it, including Prior, who was taken into custody.
The arrests took place between 5 and 9 p.m., Oct. 19.
