William Arthur ‘Chip’ McLellan Jr., obituary
William Arthur 'Chip' McLellan Jr.
Feb. 8, 1955, to Dec. 19, 2013
The doors of heaven were wide open Dec. 19, 2013,
But no wider than the arms of William Arthur McLellan Sr. and
No angel in heaven could sing louder or smile brighter
Than the grand voice and gleaming face of
Irene Talbot McLellan,
As we gave "Chip" back to them.
Our brother, William A. McLellan Jr. and for all
Who bumped into him, Who met him in the shop,
Who begged to buy a piece of stone,
Who raced rapids standing in canoes,
Who sat at camp fires with roaring laughter,
Who raised glasses to toast just because,
Who could look across the room or a field or a garden
And say, "Oh, that guy over there, why that's Chip McLellan,
One of the nicest, hardworking, a friend to all, an enemy to none,
Guys in town, they don't come any better."
That guy...Chip....is our brother and he passed away from
A 24-year relentless struggle with Multiple Sclerosis.
With the sadness and emptiness of knowing he is gone, comes
A joy and fullness of knowing he no longer has MS and that he
Landed in heaven laughing and jumping onto a Bobcat as he shouted
"Hey Mom and Dad...it's me, Chip...I'm home!"
Chip leaves behind a devoted younger brother, Edward C. “Tod” McLellan III,
A younger sister and affectionate friend, Amy T. McLellan,
A vibrant "favorite" sister, Margaret McLellan Cyr and
A cherished sister connected deep to his soul, Elizabeth A. McLellan,
And,
A field of friends scattered on every hillside in Maine.
For each of them he has already collected a one-of-a-kind stone.
For when you see Chip again, he will reach out to you and say,
"Hey, it's good to see you, come see this piece of stone!"
But for one special soul, he will not hand a piece of stone,
He will hand her his heart...Janice.
As heaven's doors opened wide that morning and
Chip ran bounding through them,
There was a small note attached to his back,
On yellow paper, written in sunlight, were the words...
You are finally free.
Love, Tod, Amy, Meg and Beth
A memorial service and reception in honor of Chip will be held in June.
