Several Thomaston Grammar School students were recognized for the attribute of courage at a schoolwide assembly on June 2. The assembly also announced the month's Principal Award winner and revealed the yearbook and teacher dedication.
Courage Awards were presented to the following students: Avery Moore, Samuel Delano, Hadlee Ahearn, Noa Silverstein, Riley Blakeway, Palmer Jackomino, Ellia Tucker, Levi Saroka, Jasmine Okouo, Caidence Knowlton, Trevor Cronkhite, Milo Fisher, Phoebe Edwards-Jenks, Dylan Latta, Amyiah Hantz, Kaiya Clements, Lila Haskell, Corban Jackomino, Pam Smith, Lorelei Walsh, Swayze Prior, and Autumn Morin.
The students honored with this award are known to be courageous. They have an adventurous spirit and are willing to take on new, exciting, or tough challenges. They are brave and do what is right even in situations that are difficult. They are fearless and are willing to stand up for themselves and others.
Throughout the month, students were awarded daily tickets for showing courage. These tickets were put into a raffle and six lucky winners were drawn at the assembly. Winners received their choice of a prize, including gift cards donated by local businesses or a lunch or game with principal Riley. This month’s winners were: Bryce Slape, Zion Peart, Tucker O’Hare, Cassius Magnoli, David Grierson, and Gabe Ross.
Ezra Blakey was presented with the Principal’s Award. Ezra is a wonderful member of the Thomaston Grammar School community. He has a positive attitude that is contagious to all who spend time with him. He stands out in classes as a student who consistently does the right thing. He is naturally a good citizen at school and beyond. We are so lucky to have Ezra with us at TGS!
Joy Chen was also recognized as the Maine CDC Lyme Disease Awareness Month 4th & 5th grade poster winner.
The school yearbook was revealed at the assembly and dedicated to Cricket Wirkala. Miss Cricket has a warmth and kindness that lights up the school and makes each day a little brighter for everyone.
The assembly concluded with a game of Hula Hoop Ball Pass. Two teams worked together to pass a ball down the line and back again-using only their feet! The yellow team and the blue team raced against each other in a best two out of three races. The blue team was victorious in the end! This game encouraged teamwork, balance and coordination and patience.
Next months students at TGS will be focusing on creativity.
Congratulations to all the students who received awards this month!
