SEA Park returns to Camden Public Landing, seeks intern
The Stewardship Education Alliance (S.E.A.) will re-open S.E.A. Park this spring at the Camden Public Landing.
S.E.A. Park will be located next to the Harbor Master’s office and again feature a 300-gallon marine aquarium with picnic tables and planters built by Camden Hills Regional High School students at The Hatchery.
The park offers an attractive place to sit and relax surrounded by a pollinator garden and to observe the habitat in the waters of Camden Harbor, and its rich diversity of marine life in the aquarium. It is consistent with S.E.A‘s mission to create an educated and engaged community to be better stewards of the local watershed.
Last summer, S.E.A. used the park as a venue to educate the local community, and visitors, as well as an outdoor classroom for Camden-Rockport Middle School students.
Signage provided descriptions of the plants and aquarium sea creatures and S.E.A. Board members were often available to answer questions. This coming summer, the organization plans to enhance each of the elements.
S.E.A. also plans to hire a part-time intern to help maintain the park and assist in running programs and workshops. Members of S.E.A. will help train and support the intern, who will learn diverse skills
