Flooding, trees down during March 10 rain, wind storm
KNOX COUNTY — The work morning began with a few reports of trees down as residents of Knox County began their attempts to drive through a wind and rain storm, Sunday, March 10. As the morning progressed, the weight of each raindrop lost its vigor, yet its continued accumulation brought some watershed levels above the roadway.
Route 1, at Lincolnville Beach, closed to traffic, per a request by Maine Dept. of Transportation, which was in the area at approximately 10:15 a.m.
In Lincolnville, on Searsmont Road just south of Camden Road, flooding has also been noted.
Camden Road (Route 105) in Hope, closed near 882 Camden Road, due to a small amount of water making the stretch impassable.
625 Camden Road, in Appleton, saw flooding.
Friendship, Warren, St. George, Hope, and Appleton firefighters have responded to trees and wires down within their towns, while also responding to a couple of reports of single vehicles striking telephone poles (ex. Searmont Road, in Lincolnville). No injuries were reported.
Around 11 a.m., Washington FD was called for a tree in the road.
South Thomaston FD shut down Buttermilk Lane to traffic at the Marsh at noon. Buttermilk reopened at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Crescent Beach area, in Owls Head, dealt with flooding.
High tide in Rockland is at 11:32 a.m., with a height of 12.19 feet.
High tide in Belfast is at 11:29 a.m., with a height of 12.54 feet.
