Working Together: Planning for Waldoboro's future
WALDOBORO — Last fall the Town of Waldoboro began the process of updating it's Comprehensive Plan that will serve as a guide for future development and policy decisions over the next 10 to 15 years. Goals and objectives identified in the plan will be based on a statement of the Waldoboro community's vision of itself now and in the future. Waldoboro last updated it's Comprehensive Plan in 1998 and has since accomplished the majority of goals and objectives identified at that time.
In 2010, the Waldoboro community went through a process to develop a community vision. As the first step in a public involvement plan the Comprehensive Plan Committee is in the process of holding a series of small group workshops to "test" the 2010 vision to gauge it's accuracy and assess whether or not it is broadly representative of what the community wants Waldoboro to be 10 or 15 years down the road. From there, the Committee will use a variety of methods, including surveys, public meetings, and planning charrettes to engage the Waldoboro community and develop a comprehensive understanding of local concerns, priorities, and aspirations.
