ROCKLAND — A 42-year-old woman was arrested June 23 for allegedly making purchases on a debit card belonging to a resident of an assisted-living facility.
Jamie Kalloch, of Washington, was charged with theft by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. She made her initial appearance June 26 in Knox County Unified Court where her bail was set at $500 cash.
According to the affidavit filed in court by Knox County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jeremy Joselyn, police were contacted by the administrator of the Washington Manor in Washington. It was reported that the bookkeeper who monitors the finances of the elderly woman, found unusual charges including rental car and hotel bills in Augusta.
The administrator confirmed that the woman’s debit card was missing from her room.
Police were told that Kalloch was allegedly driving a rental car to her job at Washington Manor and also drove the woman, who has dementia and does not drive, to an appointment, according to the affidavit.
Joselyn confirmed that Kalloch had made the purchases on the stolen debit card which totaled over $800. Besides the hotel bills and car rental fees, the card had charges for cell phone minutes.
