The final countdown is approaching for the opening of the new Center for Maine Contemporary Arts in Rockland. In late June, CMCA will open a newly constructed 11,500-plus square-foot building, with 5,500 square feet of exhibition space, designed by internationally recognized architect Toshiko Mori.

In the heart of downtown Rockland’s arts district, across from the Farnsworth Art Museum and adjacent to the historic Strand Theatre, the new CMCA, with three exhibition galleries, gift shop, lecture hall, ArtLab classroom and open public courtyard, provides a contemporary anchor to mid-coast Maine’s burgeoning art scene.

On Monday, April 18, 2016, the Chris Wolf Show will host Suzette McAvoy, director of CMCA.  We’re going to get the full story on the CMCA.  Where it’s been.  Where it’s going.  And all about the new somewhat controversial, but nevertheless exciting, building which will be a giant complement to the burgeoning Rockport arts scene.
