Waldoboro Police beat: Domestic violence assault, arrest warrants, littering
WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 128 calls for service Feb. 9-17. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Feb. 9
Officer Larry Hesseltine investigated an accident on North Nobleboro Road at 7 a.m. Aaron Bubier, 36, of Nobleboro, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck. Evan Lawrence, 23, of Jefferson, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck. Bubier was traveling northbound, following the roadway, and Lawrence was backing westbound out of a driveway and failed to yield the right of way. A mailbox belonging to Thomas Vanna was damaged as a result of the accident. No injuries were reported.
Hesseltine is investigating a report of a possible IRS scam. Waldoboro police have received approximately four reports about this activity to date.
Harley Winchenbach, 23, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Hesseltine on a warrant.
Hesseltine investigated an accident on Manktown Road at 4:06 p.m. Sara Moore, 72, of Union, was driving a 2010 Ford utility vehicle, and Caleb Packard, 22, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck. Moore was traveling northbound, slowing for traffic for a school bus unloading students. Packard was traveling northbound and failed to stop or slow down and struck Moore’s vehicle. No injuries were reported.
Caleb Packard, 22, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Hesseltine for operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
Feb. 11
Shawn Sabiens, 33, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Hesseltine on a warrant.
Feb. 12
Robert Reed, 62, of Rockland, was issued a summons by Hesseltine for speeding.
Feb. 13
Officer John Lash investigated an accident in the Circle K parking lot at 6:56 p.m. Mellisa Johnson, 21, of Nobleboro, was driving a 2006 Ford sedan and was parked at the Circle K Store. She backed out of her parking spot when a pedestrian, Paul Connolly, 60, of Friendship walked behind her vehicle. Johnson struck the pedestrian in the legs by the driver’s side corner bumper. Connolly was transported to hospital due to pain complaints.
Feb. 16
Michael Irons, 33, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Hesseltin for littering.
Feb. 17
Robert Lash, 36, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Officers Thomas Bartunek and John Lash for domestic violence assault.
