Waldoboro monument vandalized

A large monument in Waldoboro honoring former President Donald Trump has been vandalized. The monument, at 979 Washington Road, sits on the property of Tony Lash, owner of Tony Lash Excavation. For several years, a large wall, rocks, and flagpoles have sat undisturbed.
On May 31, Tony Lash’s son, Anthony Lash, said it was unknown when or who defaced the large banner which states “TRUMP 2024.”
Anthony Lash said he believed the spray painting of the Palestinian Flag was in response to a new flag added to one of the several poles at the location. Earlier in the week, Tony Lash added a flag which combines the American flag with the Israeli flag.
“I have no idea who would do it in this town of Waldoboro,” said Anthony Lash. Lash said no threats had been received prior to the incident. Lash believe the monument was established in 2018 and it has never before been vandalized. He was not aware of any video having captured the incident.
Anthony Lash said onsite security will be present for the foreseeable future. A camping tent was set up near the wall.
On June 1, a spokesperson for the Waldoboro Police Department said no report had been received regarding the alleged incident.
A message left at the home of Tony Lash had not been returned as of press time.
